![]() CONTEXT OF SITUATION
Language as a system of choices is constrained by the cultural and situational context in which the genre is used. Halliday identifies three features in any context of situation: The field, the tenor and the mode. They have their counterparts in three broad functions of language which are reflected in the choices from the language system (e.g. choices of wording) that can be seen in any text. These features allow the writer to present information in ways that reflect the communicative purpose of the genre THE FIELD

The students wrote a recipe which was later adapted and presented as a film script for a television 'cooking show'. The students also used a PowerPoint presentation they created to be used for their TV presentation. Strategies developed by DECD (2014) |
